There’s a specific kind of magic that happens when you pack a room in Mombasa with people determined to build something from scratch. Coaching at Django Girls wasn’t about being the “expert” in the room; it was about being the person who says, “I’ve seen that error a thousand times—here’s how we fix it.”
We crammed a lot into that 12-hour sprint. We journeyed from the absolute basics of the web to the moving parts of HTML, CSS, and JS, before diving deep into the world of Python and Django. 12 hours sounds like a long time, but when you’re building a future, it feels like minutes. Honestly? We’re still thirsty for more.

The real work was deeper than code. It was about watching that initial “I don’t think I can do this” look transform into “Wait, I just built a website.” To the participants: your energy was the fuel for the whole day. You made this event what it was.
Giving back to the community isn’t a chore—it’s an investment. When we coach, we aren’t just helping someone write a function; we’re helping them rewrite their career path.
To everyone who hit ‘Save’ on their first file this Friday: Welcome to the fold. The bugs are annoying, the coffee is necessary, but the community is unmatched.
Mombasa is rising. Let’s keep building.
